Apple iOs14 on DC-Wildcat

Apple announced the new software iOS14/iPadOS14 to be released starting Wednesday, September 16.  There is a new feature that will impact the use of iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch) with Daemen’s wireless networks (dc-secure, dc-guest, and dc-wildcat).
Apple is implementing private addresses for these devices, which has an unintended consequence that could deny your device access to the Daemen wireless networks.  To aid in giving you the best wireless experience possible we ask that after your device has been upgraded to iOS14 please disable the following feature:  Private Address
To turn private address off or on for a network follow the steps below:

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the information button  next to a network.
  3. Tap Private Address. If your device joined the network without using a private address, a privacy warning explains why.

If you would like to read more about this from Apple go to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211227.

*If your device is running iOS13 or older no changes are required.  To determine which software version your device is running, go to Settings => General => About.

If you have any questions or run into any issues with your devices, please create a helpdesk ticket or visit the SMART Squad in RIC 105.
