Printing Policy

To reduce paper and toner waste, fairly allocate costs to those who use the printers, and be more environmentally responsible, Daemen has adopted the following printing policy to govern printing in the RIC and the Business and Commerce building.

Fall Semesters

250 free black and white laser-printed pages per semester will be provided to each student each Fall semester that they are registered for classes, plus 50 additional free pages to cover any printing problems such as jams, toner problems, or other unforeseen errors. Charges exceeding the initial 300-page free-printing allowance will be charged to your bursar’s account at the rate of five cents per page for black and white printing and fifty cents per page for color printing.

Spring Semesters

250 free black and white laser-printed pages per semester will be provided to each student each Spring semester that they are registered for classes, plus 50 additional free pages to cover any printing problems such as jams, toner problems, or other unforeseen errors. Charges exceeding the initial 300-page free-printing allowance will be charged to your bursar’s account at the rate of five cents per page for black and white printing and fifty cents per page for color printing.

All Summer Sessions Combined

Each student will receive 150 free black-and-white laser-printed pages each summer they are registered for classes, plus 50 additional free pages to cover printing problems such as jams, toner issues, or other unforeseen errors. All students will receive one allocation of 200 pages regardless of how many different summer sessions they have enrolled in.  Charges exceeding the initial 200-page free-printing allowance will be charged to your bursar’s account at the rate of five cents per page for black-and-white printing and fifty cents per page for color printing.

Checking Your Balance

Students may check their printing credit balance in the pop-up window that appears when you log in to print, or online.

Refunds

Refunds cannot be made for leftover amounts from the initial allowance, and the remaining funds will not carry over to future semesters.

Printing Tips

In order to reduce your expense on printing in the labs:

  • utilize duplex (two-sided) printing which is currently available at no additional cost per sheet;
  • never print anything that you may not want;
  • keep the document in electronic format instead of printing it;
  • if you must have a hard copy, print only the final version;
  • proofread on screen instead of on paper;
  • preview before printing, making necessary amendments and then previewing again;
  • save your documents to your Daemen Google Drive, a USB thumb drive, or email yourself a copy of the document so you can access it from any Internet-accessible computer;
  • recognize that information posted on a web page will be available anytime from any Internet-accessible computer, so it is not necessary to make hard copies. If you worry the posted information may disappear, copy the page into a Word document and save it, or download the posted files and save them.
