ID Tip: Word doc to Online Assessment

Do you have a test, quiz, midterm, or final saved as a Word document? Good news! You don’t have to build it question by question in Blackboard. There’s a tool that lets you convert your document into an assessment file you can upload directly to your course.

Here’s how:

  1. Copy and paste your questions from a Word document directly into the Test Generator.
  2. Format the questions in the generator following the instructions.
  3. Generate the file and upload it to the Question Bank in your Ultra course.
  4. Create your assessment, then add questions in chunks based on point values.
(Tip: If you add all questions at once, you won’t be able to assign different point values.)

Some question types like multiple choice and true/false questions can be auto-graded, saving time and improving consistency. Essay questions will still need to be graded manually.

The test generator is a great tool to streamline your workflow and make assessments more efficient for both you and your students.
