How to connect your device to the Spectrum equipment

Daemen University has outsourced the Internet and Wireless service for the Student Apartments. Instead of connecting to DC-Wildcat, you will connect to your own apartment’s modem. Each apartment will have its own Spectrum account with a 300 Mbps download & 10 Mbps upload speed plan.

With most routers, you can choose to connect wireless devices (laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.) to your network manually or with the push of a button, using the WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) method.

You can connect a variety of devices to your wireless network. Click the link below and select your device for step-by-step instructions on how to get started.

Connecting Wireless Devices

Manual Connection

To connect your device to WiFi:

  1. Open the settings for managing connections on your device and look for Wireless or WiFi. The location of wireless settings will depend on the device you’re trying to connect.
  2. Make sure your device’s WiFi setting is ON.
  3. Locate the WiFi network name on your device and select it.
    • Check the sticker on the bottom or the side of your WiFi router.
    • Check your WiFi installation guide. You or your installation technician may have written down the network name and password in the guide.
  4. Enter your WiFi password and select Connect or Join.

WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) Method

  • WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) is a secure way of connecting to WiFi without entering the password.
  • Make sure your wireless device supports WPS or Push ‘N’ Connect.
  • Instructions slightly vary based on the router you have.

Note: We recommend that you don’t change the network name or password provided with your equipment. If you’ve changed your sign-in credentials from the default settings and need to reset them, please contact Spectrum.
